Songbooks

We use a variety of songbooks covering early songs to more recent stuff.  There’s something for everyone and you should know some of the songs as the evening progresses.

Here’s a list of our current songbooks:

Beginners’ Songbook: very simple stuff such as “Hush Little Baby”, “Bye Bye Love”, “Iko Iko”, and “Singing In The Rain”.  Mostly two- or three-chord songs to help the beginners and get the seasoned pros warmed up.

Best of Songbook One: “These Boots Were Made For Walking”, “This Old House”, “It Must Be Love”, “All I Have To Do Is Dream”, “I’m A Believer”, “I Wanna Be Like You”, “Ring Of Fire”, “That’s All Right, Mama”, “Folsom Prison Blues” and more of the same ilk…

Songbook Two: “Daydream Believer”, “Leaving On A Jet Plane”, “Hello, Mary Lou”, “Why Do Fools Fall In Love”, “Delilah”, “Crocodile Rock”, “Bad Moon Rising”, “Blue Suede Shoes”, “The Wonder Of You” and many more…

We also have themed books including:

  • The Beatles

I have recently bought a concert ukulele, i am a beginner, but am interested in joining your club. How much knowledge do i need to know to become a member? I have bought the book, CD & DVD – absolute beginners & have had a couple of lessons learning Yellow Submarine & Drunken Sailor. Please can you down load your beginners songbook. Thanks.

If you can manage the basic chords and strum along you’ll be absolutely fine. We’d love to have you along to our club. You’d be very welcome.
Drop me an email to the address above and I’ll send you the songbooks 🙂

Hi and similar to Margaret I have been given a concert Ukulele for Christmas and loving it. I used to play the guitar when I was younger and got to a a reasonable standard and have recently taken it up again playing with friends – also got a 12 string for Christmas – lucky fella!
So have the books and have downloaded the boot camp and working my way through the chords which in many instances are similar – would love to come along in a couple of months when I will feel a little more confident. I live in Gravesend so either venue is OK so what do you suggest?

      Hi David,
If you’ve already played the guitar, you’ll have a massive advantage as you’ll be used to changing chords and strumming. Once you feel confident, you’re very welcome to come along to either venue and join in. There are lots of other beginners, so you’ll fit right in and everyone will help you if you get stuck.
We’ll look forward to meeting you soon 🙂

Many thanks and I will keep practicing so by springtime I should be OK with any luck.
